Everything you need to know about the new 2026-27 NCERT books for Class 9

What are the names of the new NCERT Class 9 textbooks for 2026-27?
The new NCERT Class 9 textbooks (2026-27) are: Ganita Manjari (Mathematics), Exploration (Science), Kaveri (English), Ganga (Hindi), Sharada (Sanskrit), Jamuna (Urdu), Khel Praveen (Physical Education & Well-Being). Social Science and ICT are under development and will be released soon.
Why has NCERT introduced new textbooks for Class 9?
NCERT has revised all textbooks under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the new National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023. The new books focus on conceptual understanding, competency-based learning, real-life applications, and reduced rote memorisation.
Where can I download NCERT Class 9 Ganita Manjari (Mathematics) PDF for free?

Are the old NCERT Class 9 textbooks still valid for 2026-27?
No. CBSE has mandated the new NEP-aligned textbooks from the 2026-27 session. Schools in Bahrain, GCC, and India will use the new editions (Ganita Manjari, Exploration, Kaveri, Ganga, Sharada, Jamuna, Khel Praveen). We recommend not relying on older versions.
What is the difference between Ganita Manjari and the old NCERT Maths textbook?
Ganita Manjari is completely restructured with 8 thematic chapters in Part 1 (e.g., Orienting Yourself, The World of Numbers, Exploring Algebraic Identities, Probability, Sequences) and Part 2 coming later. It emphasises reasoning, real-life contexts, and competency-based questions – moving away from rote learning.
Does the NCERT Class 9 Science textbook Exploration include Physics, Chemistry and Biology?
Yes. Exploration integrates Physics, Chemistry, and Biology into thematic units (Matter, Motion, The World of Living, Energy, Universe, etc.). It replaces the older separate-chapter approach with inquiry‑based, real‑life learning.
