The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has published a completely redesigned Social Science textbook for Class 9 – Understanding Society: India and Beyond (Part I). This single integrated book replaces the four earlier books (India and the Contemporary World‑I, Contemporary India‑I, Democratic Politics‑I and Economics) and brings Geography, History, Political Science and Economics together, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and NCF‑SE 2023.
